‘Life on the Breadline: Christianity, Poverty and Politics in the 21st Century City’ started in September 2018. The project is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council for 3 years and will run until August 2021. The project aims to understand how austerity has affected Christian engagement with poverty in the UK and the theological motivations which underpin it.
The project’s Principal Investigator, Chris Shannahan, and Research Fellow, Stephanie Denning, are based at Coventry University’s Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations. The project’s Co-Investigators are Robert Beckford at Canterbury Christ Church University and Peter Scott and Manchester University.
